Fridge, freezer or cold room stopped cooling? Call +44 7879 685742
The emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While you wait for the engineer:
- Keep the door shut. A cold room or freezer room holds its temperature for several hours if nobody opens it.
- Check the plug, isolator and circuit breaker, and that nothing is blocking the condenser (the part with the fan, usually outside or on top).
- Note the temperature on the display and the time, so you know how long stock has been above its safe limit.
- Move high-value or high-risk stock to another fridge if you have one.
What we repair
- Walk-in cold rooms and freezer rooms, including panels, doors, seals and heaters.
- Condensing units, compressors, evaporators, fans and controllers.
- Display refrigeration: multideck chillers, serve over counters, glass-door freezers, cake and patisserie displays, drinks chillers.
- Blast chillers and blast freezers in kitchens and food production.
- Cold stores and plant in warehouses and distribution sites.
- Refrigerant leaks, pressure testing and recharging, carried out by F-Gas certified engineers.
Common faults and what they usually mean
- Not cooling at all: a tripped supply, a failed compressor or start components, a refrigerant leak, or a controller or thermostat fault.
- Cooling but not reaching temperature: a dirty or blocked condenser, an iced-up evaporator, a door that does not seal, or low refrigerant.
- Icing up: a failed defrost heater, timer or drain, or a door left open too long.
- Running constantly: a condenser that needs cleaning, a worn door seal or a room that is overloaded with warm product.
- Water on the floor: a blocked condensate drain or a failed drain heater.
- Loud or unusual noise: a fan motor, worn compressor mounts or ice touching a fan blade.
Emergency call-outs, 24 hours a day
Breakdowns do not keep office hours. The same number reaches us at 2am on a Sunday as at 10am on a Tuesday, and we tell you the out-of-hours call-out charge before an engineer sets off, so there are no surprises. For businesses that cannot afford downtime, a maintenance contract adds planned visits that catch wear before it becomes a breakdown, and priority response when something does fail.
What a commercial refrigeration repair costs
A repair is priced as a call-out charge plus labour and parts. A door seal, fan or controller is a small job; a compressor or evaporator is a larger one. We diagnose first and agree a fixed price before any repair work starts. When equipment is more than 10 to 15 years old, has failed repeatedly, or runs on a refrigerant that is now restricted, we tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether a new cold room or new display cabinet is the better value.
